Splitting an order across two shipments

Ship what’s in stock now and backorder the rest, without double-charging shipping.

Splitting ships what’s in stock now and creates a backorder shipment for the rest, under the same order number.

Split it

Open the order and choose Split shipment.

Drag lines (or partial quantities) into the second shipment.

Confirm — the first shipment enters today’s flow; the backorder waits on stock.

PrudenceShipping is charged per shipment by default. Enable “single shipping charge on splits” in Settings → Billing rules if your store contract requires it — this cannot be applied retroactively.

The customer gets separate tracking for each shipment; the order page shows both timelines side by side.
